I specialise in working on National Lottery Heritage Fund bids of all sizes, but have successfully sought funding for projects from a range of sources including Arts Council England, DCMS, local authority grant rounds, and a variety of trusts and foundations. I can help you with all stages of the bid writing process. This is a selection of examples of my previous work fundraising for clients in the arts and heritage sector.

Blackpool Museum

Blackpool is soon to get its first museum, focused on the world of seaside fun and entertainment. I worked with the team to review and edit the Activity Plan for their successful Round Two bid to National Lottery Heritage Fund, and am very much looking forward to visiting this new and unique attraction when it opens.

Royal Albert Dock Liverpool

In 2021 the Royal Albert Dock Liverpool celebrates 175 years since it was officially opened by HRH Prince Albert. I’ve been working with them for some time to develop a community engagement strategy which will make new links between Albert Dock and local audiences. Many of the ideas which emerged through this research have now been developed into a plan to carry out a large-scale oral history and community collecting project, which has recently secured a Round One pass from National Lottery Heritage Fund. I am now working with a partnership of organisations including Liverpool City Council, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, Tate and National Museums Liverpool to develop a detailed Round Two bid and Activity Plan.

Daniel Adamson Preservation Society

The Daniel Adamson Preservation Society is a team of dedicated volunteers committed to the restoration of a unique steam-powered Mersey tugboat. When I first got involved with them they had just had a HLF funding application rejected, and so my task was to assess the original bid, and resubmit an application. A lot of time went into fostering partnerships with other heritage organisations in the North West, and developing education and outreach programmes. The re-submitted application was successful and the Danny was re-launched in 2016 following a stunning restoration.

North West Federation of Museums

There is a national skills shortage in the heritage sector, so North West Federation of Museums set about addressing this through a positive action training scheme. My initial role in the project was to negotiate an action plan with the four regional partner museums and then to devise a detailed training plan to support a successful round 2 application to HLF’s Skills for the Future fund. I went on to evaluate the scheme and see trainees flourish over the four years of the programme.
