Strategic support can range from a short session with your team to focus on a problem and possible solutions, or a full research project or feasibility study. I can work with you to take a new project from the germ of an idea to a fully developed implementation plan. I have worked with a range of organisations to develop strategic action plans, consult on policy, and engage stakeholders. Here are some examples.
The Florrie
The Florrie is a spectacular Victorian building in the heart of Liverpool 8, rescued from dereliction by local campaigners and now a thriving community centre and workspace. I worked with the Florrie for seven months as Interim Director during a period of internal restructuring, completing a financial and management review and leading the recruitment of new staff to key posts.
a-n
a-n is a membership organisation for visual artists. Working with DHA Communications, I facilitated a series of discussions and focus groups for artists and arts organisations. The aim of the workshops was to develop guidance around payments and fees to artists when they are commissioned to make new work. This work was part of a-n’s Paying Artists campaign.
Bombed Out Church
St Luke’s Church is a beloved Liverpool landmark and a memorial to the civilian casualties of the Second World War. When Liverpool City Council put the future operation of the church and surrounding gardens out to tender, I worked closely with the Bombed Out Church team to develop a business plan, operational plan and programme for the site which will enable them to become self-sustaining while enhancing the facilities and maintaining the community ethos of this important space.
Unilever Art, Archives and Records Management Service
Unilever’s fascinating business archive is based in their Port Sunlight headquarters and its contents date back to the foundation of Lever Bros in the 1880s. This rich collection of minutes and financial documents, advertising material, product packaging and design work sheds light on economic and social history across the globe. I worked with the Unilever team to develop an audience engagement strategy to help them share the contents with the general public, and think about how to maximise the potential of their archive for learning and wellbeing.
